Dear Members,
My most humble pranams to all. It gives me immense pleasure to write this message that we are blessed to serve community for the second consecutive year. As you must be aware a new committee of GCA, Ottawa has been constituted for the current year 2010-11.
Our association has been very vibrant over the years and we hope to continue the spirit in times to come. Last year we had organized several events and along with, we also had opportunity to speak on several events in collaboration with India Canada Association (ICA) on National Integration Day at High Commissions India, Mahatma Gandhi Peace Society (MGPS) on Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Day and Tejaswini on International Women’s Day. We got whole hearted support from the community on all the events and an overwhelming pat on shoulder from ICA, MGPS and Tejaswini.
This year too, along with our regular community events, GCA will be co-organizer with ICA, MGPS, Tejaswini and Pratham. We strongly urge our community to be united and join us to make them a great success. We are planning to organize volunteering service at Royal Ottawa Hospital under the umbrella of GCA. We have planned to involve our beloved Vidhya Kunj Students to participate in Cultural Events across Ottawa.
Last year we had involved our Youth Executives in organizing few events and this year our Youth Executives will lead many events. Also, we are pleased to announce that we will be starting Bi-Monthly News Letter that will keep our community updated with all the events.
We strongly request all our members to renew their membership well in advance to avoid double entry fee for all event and also to enable the committee to plan out events which need your support in the form of membership fees. There will be a discounted membership fees before Aug 31st 2010.
We encourage our community members to support our cause through donation/contribution which will help us to implement our plans. Our association is registered as a Charity with the CRA hence we will be able to issue receipt for donations. We would also welcome students to help us in our events which will help them accumulate volunteer hours.
Gujarat is a land of Patriots where Mahatma Gandhiji, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Morarjibhai Desai took birth. They have made difference not only in Gujarat and in India but all over the world. Let us all be proud Gujaratis and make difference wherever we are. Unity leads us to success.
We request all the community members of the Association to join us in all our endeavors and make our plan to attract upcoming generation a great success. Once again thank you all for your involvement and support.
Punita Patel
President GCA 2010-11
on behalf of Executives.
